NEWS: THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT IS INVESTIGATING THE IMPORTATION OF SNAKES INTO THE COUNTRY

The minister for agriculture and rural development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has said that the ministry is investigating the case of intercepted containers carrying snakes and other animals into the country by the Nigeria Customers Service.

The Nigeria Customers Service recently intercepted 3 containers full of snakes and others animals being smuggled in Calabar. The Minister said that this is very serious case and called for concern and also demand that The Nigeria Quarantine Service should be allowed to do their job without interference at the ports and airports to make sure incidents like this are not allowed in the country.

In Abuja while The Minister was addressing team of Journalists, said that, similar case was recorded when the Nigeria Quarantine Service intercepted container of kolanut being exported to Saudi Arabia, meanwhile the Saudi Arabia government had banned the importation of kolanut into the country.
