ENTERTAINMENT: OPRAH WINFREY'S 'TIME IS UP' GOLDEN GLOBE ACCEPTANCE SPEECH ROARS ACROSS THE WORLD

Last night at the Golden Globe Awards history was made when Oprah Winfrey received the highest honor of the night making her the first black woman to ever received the Cecil B. DeMille award.

Oprah Winfrey, the 63 year old media mogul and actress received the 2018 Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Sunday's ceremony, an honorary award and highest award of the night bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for outstanding contribution to the world of entertainment.

Oprah in her moving speech that got a boisterous applause and standing ovation said;
"It is not lost to me that, at this moment, there is a little girl watching as i become the first Black woman to be given the same award" she said after recalling her childhood watching Sidney Poitier become the first Black person to win an Oscar for the best actor. She said again. "It is an honor and it is a privilege to share the evening with all of them."

Oprah Winfrey dominated the night with emotional and inspiring speech that not only speak of present societal issue but past memories and the story of Recy Taylor. a Black woman who never received justice after she was abducted and gang raped by six white men in Alabama.
In Oprah's acceptance speech the crowd busted into another round of thunderous applause when she assured sexual predators that their "time is up" This will later become the hashtag of the night.
 She said, "I want all the girls watching to know a new day is on the horizon. And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure they are the leaders to take us to the time where nobody has to say 'me too' again."

It was noticed at the prestigious ceremony that many stars wore black to the award show to oppose sexual harassment in Hollywood. Oprah continued saying;
"This year, we became the story. But it's not just story affecting the entertainment industry, it's one that transcends any culture, or workplace."

It was a night where history was recorded in the books that will survive generations to come and Oprah Winfrey who added another accolade to her fleet of awards, gave a new voice to the young girls who watched the ceremony from the couch of their living rooms, dreaming and aspiring, will now know that dreams do come true and Oprah Winfrey is the living testimony of that.
