NEW: OGUN STATE POLICE DISCOVERS BURIED HUMAN PARTS IN CHURCH, ARREST 3 SUSPECTS
A 77 years old man, Pastor Samuel Babatunde, has been arrested alongside 3 other suspects in connection with human parts discovered in his church. The pastor was apprehended with one suspected serial kidnapper, Jeremiah Adeola (32) and a 43-year old herbalist, Haruna Afolabi.
The suspected Pastor is said to be the founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim church, Itedo Isinmi, Ayo Parish, Egan Road, in Iyesi Area of Sango-Ota. The Ogun state commissioner of police, Mr Ahmed Illiyasu, said the discovery followed the arrest of one Adeola, last Sunday.
The commissioner of police while parading the pastor said, Adeola confessed that the pastor is the receiver of the kidnapped children brought to him while Afolabi is the one who buried the human part at the church entrance.
The commissioner also said that, the floor of the church was dug according to the way Adeola described it and what suspected to be human parts were subsequently dug out. Illiyasu promised that forensic investigation will be carried out by the command.
But the pastor has denied all the allegations laid on him, saying the suspected human parts are that of pig buried alive in the church contrary to what they were saying. Pastor Babatunde said the act was done to bring prosperity, good fortunes and comforts to the members of the church.
He told reporters that he regretted his actions, claiming that he met Adeola at a prayer mountain in Ibadan and never knew he that he had any ritualist dealing with the alleged serial kidnapper.
However, Adeola stood firm on his words that, the accused pastor was the receiver of some kidnapped children and he(Babatunde) paid him 50,000 naira for each two children.
